Yes, the PS3 Slim is here – not such great news for some people who may have recently bought an 80GB PlayStation 3, but for those procastinators among us, this is just another selling point.

Jammed with twice the storage of the original PlayStation 3, making the total storage 120GB, as well as being cooler, quieter and lighter (DUH!). One question though – where’s the Trademark PS3 shine???

Not that this will be enough, Sony. We want MORE!!!

Last Rebellion is an RPG in development at Hitmaker’s studios, due for release in Autumn this year (2009 for those of us who… aren’t quite sure). The game is descreibed as having ‘action elements’ with a turn-based battle system and free-roaming action elements.

Sounds pretty interesting, but that’s maybe because I’ve been put off by the amount of traditional RPGs with nothing new to offer. However this game does seem to be a little safe – I’m in the mood for a drastic change in gameplay.

The artwork looks pretty nice though – and the few gameplay screens that are available look very nice… even if I say so myself in my skeptical mindframe:

The FFXIII demo will be released tomorrow on PSN and with the FFVII: Advent Children Blu-Ray disc. The Blu-Ray anime series has ben dated for June in North America, but no details have been disclosed for Europe. I ask: WHY??

It seems like European gamers will always be left in the dark when it comes to Japanese releases – you would think releases would be quicker given that they’re like… 10 years ahead of everyone else!!

This game popped out at me today while reading IGN PS3’s updates. BlazBlue (Blaze Blue/BB) is a HD 2D fighter which is being developed at the moment by Guilty Gear makers, ARC System Works. The cast is completely original anon the surface it is your typical Japanese fighter.

Much like Street Fighter IV, it is heavily focused on combos (and dodging them ;P). What I find very interesting is that it mixes 3D with 2D characters and backdrops. With full onlne play and ‘Console-exclusive DLCs’, it will also be a prospective buy for those online gamers.

The game is stated to be released on September 30th in the States, but so early in its development it is likelythat the date will change. So far, no release has been predicted for Europe and, well I’m not sure about Asia :S.

As more news comes through, I’ll update you guys (and myself) on the state of the game and its features.

SO with my Christmas/Birthday money I decided to splash out on some games like a TRUE PlayStation Head. I bought The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which seemed like a good investment since it was only £20 and people have been raving about it to me for the oast… 2 years :S. I also got Tomb Raider Underworld – which sort of quenched my thirst for a really good exploration game (no offence to Naughty Dog and the Uncharted team, but… what the hell!)

I’ve always been a fan of Tomb Raider – not because of the somewhat attractive female protaginist, I’ll have you know. And this game in my opinion is one of the best in the series (topped only by TR 1 and 3). This installment is an immediate continuation of TR: Legend and also fills in some blanks from the first TR, or Anniversary. Now lets get to the good stuff.

Graphics: Obviously, since this is a 7th gen game, the graphics are… pretty damn brilliant. disrergarding the PS3’s slight lack of shading ability, the graphics are – I would argue – a little better than Uncharted.

Graphics: 9/10

Gameplay: The game is largely played using conventional control configurations, rather than the more classic X to shoot setup.This setup is better overall. There are also a lot more additions to the game, such as grapple, and there are also a good few more weapons. The game is easy to learn if you’re new to it.

Gameplay: 9/10

Story: Well, I’ve only played the first two stages, excluding the tutorial, but so far the story is compelling and engaging. It helps if you’ve played Tomb Raider Legend, as Underworld is a continuation of it – so pick it up now on PS2 or PC if you can. I won’t give away too much, but so far there’s been quite a lot of swimming. Also the voice acting is classic Lara – a lot of sarcastic remarks about her male compadres which I was not too happy about .

Story (so far): 9/10

Overall: 9/10 – EXCELLENT GAME!
