SCEE Welcomes Andrew House as new Boss
David Reeves will be standing down on May 1st, and will be replaced by Andrew House – a Sony employee of 18 years!
Formerly Chief Marketing Officer for 5 years, this is a pretty big promotion, but hey – Kazuo Hirai seems happy!:
“I’m very happy to welcome Andrew back to the PlayStation business and to work closely with him again” said Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment. “I’m confident that the skills and expertise Andy has gained over the years working as Sony’s CMO will contribute enormously in leading the PlayStation business in Europe/PAL countries and regions and to bring new initiatives in managing the business in the coming networked era.”
The bits that sruck me most in that heartfelt snippet from the Sony head are: “…new initiatives…” and “…the coming networked era…”. Does this mean that communication and online features will become even more prominent in gaming? If so, I certainly can’t wait for Andrew House’s first move as Sony Europe’s Prez!
