Major UK based games retailers Game, Gamestation, Amazon UK and Play.com have listed the upcoming 80GB PS3 model for release and shipping on the 22nd of August, which is this Friday! If this is true and is not just an amazing coincidence that 4 of the largest retailers in the UK mistyped the same date on the same product, this means that the 80GB model is due for release a whole week before Mr. David Reeves announced earlier.
The new model will replace the current 40GB model and is already available in the US. It will be released at the same price as the 40GB model (£299), which can only be a good thing as I understand it has backwards compatibility with PS2 and PS1 games and (obviously) 2 times the storage space. However, I’m pretty happy with my original 60GB model.
