With articles spread all over the web about how the PlayStation 3 is catching up to the Wii in Japan, I thought I’d do a little something about the best games of today, and how they will be remembered in a decade or two. I have complete faith in some of the PS3’s exclusive developers that they will produce some future classics. So in this post I’m going to run down some of the games that I think will become classics in a few years and maybe even become *RARE*.

  1. Resistance: Fall of Man - This game is still one of the best FPSes of the console and has done extremely well to build on Insomniac’s great record with Ratchet and Clank games. It can now be found to buy new for about £25 but used it’s probably £15 or so. I have a feeling that this one will be a rarey as I’ve met so many people who have just binned it or traded it in after getting it with a bundle.
  2. Metal gear Solid 4 - Obviously this is a great game, everyone agrees on that, but the fact that it is a PS3 exclusive enhances that prestige as well as the fact that it is the last in the series. I think this game will be remembered as the greatest and most important PS3 game ever and also as the game which put the PS3 inches away in terms of the user base.
  3. Final Fantasy XIII - A JRPG. It’s no surprise that JRPGs are always the ones that get rarest quickest but this one will have giood reason to do so. I reckon this one will remain one of the best real traditional JRPGs with a great story, great graphics, great battle system etc.

These are just my opinions, obviously there are games that I’ve never played and there is also one game on the list that I haven’t played ever because it hasn’t come out yet (FFXIII). I think they are all worthy competitors and are/will be great games.
