In every sense of the phrase. I had a go at the Civilization demo straight from the PSN store, and it took it’s sweet time to download. I had never played a Civilization game before this so I was a little bit skeptical. Another factor was the fact that I’ve never enjoyed strategy games. That’s turn based, real time or… whatever else there is. I just find them tedious and boring. Civilization Revolution turned it all around, so here I am writing about it.

Whether it’s just this installment of the Civilization franchise that I’m really impressed by or the whole series (which I’ve never played), Sid Meiers Revolution game is certainly one of the best video games i’ve played. Ever. It’s an articulate, thoughtful, humorous game with a lot of flexibility during gameplay. The game starts at the beginning of Civilization, and in the demo you can only pick from ruling your (very small) city as Cleopatra of Egypt or Alex of Rome (I think). But that is the only restriction apart from the number of turns you are able to play for.

There isn’t much bad to say about this particular game, because everything slightly unrealistic or imperfect is meant to be that way. The game is also kinda funny as well: your advisers will simply speak gibberish to you before making a decision, and the decisions you can make are extensive, from research to your own plans of world domination.

I won’t give much away about this game as it’s free to download (the demo) from the PSN store, and it’s a game you should play for yourself to understand the nonsense I write every single day. Overall I rate this demo 8/10 as it’s the first strategy game which I really got into and enjoyed.
