Yesterday, I wrote a post briefly discussing the three major beat-em-up genre approaching releases, those three being Street Fighter IV, Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur IV.
Practically immediately after writing that post, I checked out IGN.com, and saw something about DBZ: Burst Limit. Now, I have never been a fan of Dragon Ball Z games, maybe that’s because I hated the anime. But overall, it’s not such a bad series of games. The graphics could be helped a bit, or a lot, but then anyone could ay that about Street Fighter, but they don’t because it’s a great franchise.
So, I was wondering. Dragon Ball Z has grown ever more popular, especially amongst younger gamers (younger than me, anyway!). And, to me, it looks like in the near future, 30 somethngs won’t make the majority of gamer, it will probably be kids.
So, this is my question. Will Dragon Ball Z be the Street Fighter of the younger generations and generations to come? Or will Street Fighter and Tekken germinate into the younger generations.
Hey, and another question. I’ve noticed that arcade gaming culture is fast dying out. Maybe that’s because there aren’t any damn arcades to go to anyway! I noticed that Tekken and SF IV will be released on Arcade systems. I’ve got an inkling, that if Dragon Ball Z was released for arcade platforms as well, Bandai could be in the money. Does anyone else see $$$?
